Cassidy, diagnosed at 18 months old, has endured a lot for the past five years. Her family wanted to help fight the disease, and put together a campaign called EAT4aCure, which raised $5,000, and was covered by their local newspaper and television station, and have participated in other fundraising and educational events for the disease. Cassidy would like to be a nurse to help other people with diabetes. She did a project in the first grade on how life with diabetes has changed over the last 100 years, for which she placed third. She also enjoys dancing, riding roller coasters, and reading. As a delegate, Cassidy would like legislators to know more about diabetes, and that even when things are done to increase wellness, there are still problems sometimes. “I want other kids with diabetes to know that someone else is like them, and that if we work together we can do anything.”
