Alexa from Washington
Profile:

Alexa gets annoyed when people tell her she can't eat a certain food. "I just calmly tell them, "I can eat that, I just need extra insulin.'" Having had diabetes for nearly nine of her 10 years, she has experienced problems like occasional double vision, but basically, "I'm a happy and healthy 10-year-old on the pump." Her favorite activities include reading, skiing (she survived the Double Diamond ski run), biking, talking on the phone, painting her nails, scrapbooking, "and just trying to be a normal kid." She aspires to be "a really good cook, an awesome writer, and Speaker of the House." She and her mom have walked for a cure for five years now. Last year, as Walk Ambassador, she cut the kick-off ribbon and gave a speech.
