Alana was diagnosed at age three and now 11, she uses a pump to help manage her disease. Alana enjoys swimming, soccer, tumbling, arts and crafts. She is an animal lover, and hopes to be a vet one day. She is a nominee for the Prudential Spirit of Community scholarship, and won the Kohl’s Kids Who Care scholarship. She volunteers with JDRF, Children’s Miracle Network, and Diabetes Solution. Her Walk team, Alana’s Army walks each year raising money for JDRF. As a delegate, Alana wants to help Members of Congress learn more about what it is like to live with diabetes, and to convince them to give more support for research toward a cure. “I think it’s important to let everyone know what it means to have to live with diabetes.”
