Samantha from Massachusetts
Age: 17Profile:

Samantha is the stage manager for her high school’s theater company, and she plays on the varsity girl’s tennis team. She also enjoys skiing. She’d like to pursue either science or politics so that she can help to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, which changed her life when she was diagnosed at age 12, and other diseases that affect millions of people worldwide. Over the past three years, Samantha has organized JDRF Walk teams that together have raised more than $60,000. She also participated in the Promise to Remember Me Campaign during that time, and has spoken to other children and businesses about the disease. She’d like to help create a larger awareness of type 1 and how it affects children worldwide all day, every day, regardless of lifestyle or class.
