Jabari from Georgia
Age: 6Profile:

Diagnosed at one, five-year-old Jabari’s life has never been the same, nor has his family’s. Refused by day care centers because of his disease, and rejected by insurance companies who won’t cover a continuous glucose monitor for someone at his age, his diagnosis has been a challenge, physically and emotionally. Jabari and his family have participated in five JDRF Walks, raising thousands of dollars with the help of friends. Jabari would like Congress to walk away with a better understanding of how diabetes changes the lives of families. He would like more money for stem cell research, and insurance coverage for continuous glucose monitors for minors. His mom says, “Jabari means courageous. He has lived up to his name. He is now able to test his own blood sugar. He handles his pump changes like a trooper. He is truly a brave and courageous little boy.”
